Eigene Module

Your own modules

A module is a building block that an application brings with it from the start: an area with its own fields, a language, a jurisdiction, a look, or a questionnaire for a specific purpose. This page describes how an organisation’s building block gets into a Vivodepot application.

Modul und Vorlage

Module and template

Whether a building block is called a module or a template depends on the route by which it arrives, not on what kind it is. If an application brings it from the start, such as your own application, it is a module. If a person reads it into their depot later, it is a template. The same file can be one in one application and the other in another.

Both are built the same way: in the Studio, signed with your organisation’s key. How a person reads a building block in later is described on Your own templates →

AblaufProcess

Vom Entwurf zur Anwendung

From draft to application

  1. Bauen. Sie stellen das Modul im Studio(öffnet in neuem Fenster)(opens in a new window) zusammen, im Browser, ohne Konto und ohne Installation. Das Studio sendet von sich aus nichts.
  2. Zertifikat.
  1. Build. You put the module together in the Studio(öffnet in neuem Fenster)(opens in a new window), in the browser, with no account and no installation. The Studio sends nothing by itself.
  2. Certificate. Vivodepot issues your organisation a provider certificate. It confirms that your key belongs to you and is valid for 18 months.
  3. Sign. You sign the module with your organisation’s key. The signature shows who the module comes from and that it has not been altered.
  4. Submit. You send the signed module to Vivodepot. How it reaches an application is agreed with you, for example as part of your own application.

Prüfung in der Anwendung

Checking in the application

The application checks the signature without an internet connection and shows, for every extension, where it comes from: “verified”, “signed, not recognized”, “unsigned” or “origin unknown”. It rejects an expired certificate, and one on the revocation list shipped with it.

The application reads in a building block without a signature only after asking, and shows it as “unsigned”; it accepts branding only with a verified signature. If a depot file brings a building block without a verified signature, it takes effect only once the person explicitly chooses it.

Verantwortung und Vertrieb

Responsibility and distribution

You remain responsible for the content. The signature attests who a module comes from, not that its content is correct.

Whether a building block is offered in the Vivodepot shop is governed by a separate contract. Vivodepot will tell you the terms for the certificate and for distribution directly.

A new version of your building block does not reach files already handed out by itself. It arrives with the next version of the application, or as a new file that the person reads in.
