The person keeps their data > encrypted in a file of their own on their own device and passes on what is needed, in open standard formats. The depot is > on the person's device, not with Vivodepot. The application runs as a single file in the browser, without an account, > and is licensed under the EUPL-1.2. In Vivodepot Private these areas are set up: education and work, finance and payments, health, identity and person, crisis preparedness, my people, mobility and travel, personal, social insurance, assets and income, administration and public bodies, advance care and law, housing and property. Organisations can add areas of their own with signed templates. ## Facts in brief - Where the depot is: in an encrypted file held by the person, not by Vivodepot GmbH. No account is needed. More: [Facts and answers](https://vivodepot.de/fakten.html) (the page is bilingual; switch with ?lang=en). - Handing over instead of storing: the person decides who gets which data and passes it on as a PDF page, a small file or in open standards (for example HL7 FHIR, vCard, iCalendar, SD-JWT VC). Whoever receives it needs no account. - Difference from plain storage: Vivodepot organises the data in areas with defined fields and passes extracts in open standard formats to, for example, a medical practice or a public office. - Installation: nothing to install. The application opens in the browser; placing it on the home screen is a function of the browser. - Forgotten password: when the depot is created, the application offers the recovery code; the person can decline and set it up later in the settings. If it is set up, it opens the depot and lets the person choose a new password. Without the password and without the code, nobody can get at the data in the depot, and that includes the provider. - Encryption: AES-256-GCM. The key is derived on the device from the password, using PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA-256 with 600,000 iterations, followed by HKDF. - Passwords for other services: they belong in a password manager. Vivodepot records where access details are kept and who has access. - Which data Vivodepot receives: data arises, among other things, when the website and the application are retrieved (connection data), in the download count, in the shop, when sharing through share.vivodepot.de (a file encrypted in the browser, no longer retrievable after seven days) and in mails to us.
